In 2007 Joe Roberts completed negotiation for mineral ownership of the first four-thousand feet of section under some property he owns on the eastern flank of the
Hockley Salt Dome in north-west Harris County. He was duck hunting there and a storm came up. A lightning bolt struck right in front of his truck and scared him.
The thing unique about Joe is the next year he was back in the same place hunting ducks again, and a storm came up and a lightning bolt hit what appeared to be the same place.
Joe got in his truck, drove to my house, asked me if lightning strikes twice in the same place, and if it does, did it mean he has oil in his newly acquired mineral rights.
The well is scheduled to be drilled in March of 2014. The image underneath Joe show lightning strikes from a third visit Joe made to his property on the 27th of September 2011.
He said he had never seen so many lightning strikes at one time as they came in from the south and surrounded him. The lightning data for this day confirms his experience.
